The new year is sneaking up on us fast and with it come predictions for global trends in interiors. This year, as in every year, the Dulux paint colour specialists confer with a team of international design experts to discuss these trends and translate them into a paint colour which reflects and responds to these trends.
The year 2020 is not only a new year but a new decade, so the theme of a fresh, new dawn features, especially given our world is becoming increasingly more fast paced and digital. The team identified a need for reconnection, meaning and kindness and taking its inspiration from the colour of the morning sky, they have come up with next years serene shade of Tranquil Dawn.
The soft green hue is said by Dulux to "reflect a growing desire to understand what it is to be human at a time when advances in technology are making us feel increasingly disconnected from each other."
'At the start of this new decade, the panel identified that the world has a growing desire to understand what makes us human. Against a background of increasing technological power, we want to understand our place in society and how we can make a positive impact on it. We need a fresh purpose, to be the architects of our own future and we are asking searching questions of both ourselves and society.' says Heleen van Gent, Head of AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Centre
"A new decade heralds a new dawn and the hazy pale green tones of Tranquil Dawn™ are calming and comforting just when we need it most in our lives. When paired with neutral pastels and rich jewels it becomes incredibly powerful at creating spaces that encourage making better human connections." says Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director of Dulux UK.
We love Dulux's choice. It's incredibly close to our own shade of Sage green and we took our inspiration from the calm beauty of nature to bring this shade into your bedroom to create a tranquil oasis from the hectic pace of modern life.
